Performing tests requested by any of the Group's plants (CIMPOR and OYAK) or external clients relating to cement, clinker, raw materials, fuels, aggregates, concrete, mortars and water;
Carrying out tests to support Technical Sales Assistance to meet the needs and complaints of clients;
Carrying out studies on the development and improvement of new and existing products in the cement and concrete industry;
Carrying out tests requested by internal Technical Engineering & Technology Departments (Raw Materials, Engineering Process, Investment Projects);
R&D studies on new cement clinkers, new hydraulic materials and cement paste hydration
Monitoring inter-laboratory trials for test method validation;
Providing technical assistance to all the Group's Units to improve test methods and use of laboratory equipment;
Monitoring tests in initial cement certification phases to provide factories with comparative results with which to challenge decisions made by the brand's official laboratories.

The process of material characterisation in the CL generally involves the following stages:

Characterisation of raw materials
Characterisation of types of cement and their constituents
Characterisation of fuels - Tests to characterise liquid and solid fuels, whether fossil fuels or other.
Characterising Concrete and Aggregates
Tests on pastes, mortars and concrete

Geological surveys/raw material reserve testing;
Thermal and mass balance tests of the various phases of the manufacturing process;
Product improvement studies: raw materials, cement clinker, cement, concrete, dry mortars, masonry cement, etc;
Assistance in implementing new testing methods and solving problems with existing processes or equipment within the Group's laboratories;
Training technicians and analysts from the company's various departments;
Carrying out Audits of the Laboratories belonging to each department;
Group-wide management of inter-laboratory testing.
