TOWARDS A CARBON-NEUTRAL ECONOMY BY 2050

CIMPOR seeks a 37% reduction in direct CO2 emissions by 2030.

This measure, which is integrated into the company's long-term environmental strategy, is part of the plan to transition to a carbon-neutral economy - an aim that is expected to be reached by the middle of this century.

To meet this new environmental goal, CIMPOR commits to investing 150 M€ in modernising its industrial assets and R&D projects by 2030.

ROADMAP TO CARBON NEUTRALITY 2050

A detailed presentation of the pathway that the Portuguese Cement Industry proposes to adopt, and therefore CIMPOR which will follow an identical pattern, to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. The years 1990 and 2017 are considered as the calculation base, and the potential for carbon emissions reduction in the national cement sector is estimated for 2030 and 2050. Actions to be developed for each element of the clinker, cement, concrete, construction and [re]carbonation value chain are identified, as well as the estimated necessary investments."
